Be More Happy?

Be More Happy is a half-day meditation and yoga retreat for people who want to step out of the usual pace of life and reconnect with themselves in a more meaningful way.

The morning includes a self-care workshop, guided meditation, gentle yoga, a mindful walk in nature, and time for self-reflection. Together, these experiences are designed to help you feel more refreshed, relaxed, and present.

You don’t need any experience with meditation or yoga. Just come as you are.

De’La Clay-Bell

Valenciá De’La Clay-Bell is a professor of Women & Gender Studies at Morgan State University, PhD student in Trauma-Informed Educational Practices, and Certified Yoga Teacher (200-hour). She will guide a grounding yoga session that supports relaxation, body awareness, and a deeper sense of ease

Brian
Furr

Brian Furr is a 200-hour YTT-certified yoga instructor, meditation practitioner, triathlete, and entrepreneur. His teaching brings together discipline, steadiness, and purpose in an approachable way. At this retreat, he will guide participants through a gentle yoga practice designed to help them release tension, reconnect with themselves, and feel more present.

Acharya
Kashi

Acharya Kashi (Ashley Williams) is a yogi, acharya, speaker, and joy-builder whose work is rooted in resilience, hope, and human happiness. She believes self-care can be both practical and joyful, helping people return to themselves with more ease and intention. At this retreat, Acharya Kashi will lead the Self-Care Workshop.

Swami
Nityananda

Swami Nityananda teaches yoga philosophy and meditation at Awake Yoga Meditation Center. Her teachings reach audiences in more than 60 countries and help listeners live in joy and freedom. As Juniper Ellis she is Professor Emerita of English at Loyola University Maryland. She will offer a meditation to help connect with inner awareness and happiness.

Danna
Thomas

Danna Thomas, a Baltimore Public School teacher, is the author and founder of Happy Teacher Revolution: a global initiative to support the mental health and wellness of educators. The organization has supported thousands of teachers across the United States, Canada, Nigeria, Brazil, and Senegal by providing educators with the time and space to feel, deal, and be real about the social-emotional demands of the job. When she’s not meditating and playing saxophone in Baltimore, Danna lives on her converted school bus, “Begonia,” as she continues her own journey of claiming and sustaining joy.

  • The retreat takes place on June 6 from 9 AM ET to 12 PM ET.

  • Wear something comfortable that you can move and relax in.

  • Please bring a yoga mat or blanket if you don’t have a yoga mat. We’ll share anything else you need to know after you register.
